Two militants, civilian killed

Srinagar: Two militants and a civilian were killed in Kashmir where security forces busted a militant hideout and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition since last evening, a police spokesman said today. Two militants, yet to be identified, were killed in a gunbattle with security forces at Lashdat in Kupwara district, the spokesman said. Two AK rifles, four magazines, 80 rounds, eight hand grenades and a wireless set were recovered from slain militants, he added. He said militants shot dead a vegetable vendor Ajaz Ahmed Hamal (26) at his house at Gani Hamam in Baramulla district last evening. On a tip off, security forces recovered 161 UBGL grenades, 22 anti-tank grenades, 419 detonators, one AK rifle, five magazines, 280 rounds, 16 IED boxes, 14 IED switches, one pika gun magazine, seven Under Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs), two RCC bombs, 90 sniper rounds and 10 Kg RDX from a hideout in Kupwara, he said. Security forces apprehended a militant at Boniyar while a Hizbul Mujahideen ultra surrendered along with an AK rifle, three rounds and a grenade at Naidkhai in north Kashmir last night.
