Hizb Terrorist Surrenders In Kashmir

Jammu: A Hizbul Mujahideen ultra surrendered and a civilian was injured in the crossfire of an encounter in Jammu division where security forces seized arms and ammunition from three militant hideouts overnight, officials said on Sunday. The civilian, Ash Ali was injured when militants and security forces were engaged in a gunbattle in Ghroo Kuntlal area of Doda district on Saturday, they said. Ali was admitted in hospital. The militants fled after a brief exchange of fire, they said. They said a Hizb militant Sher Mohammad, 20, surrendered before security forces at Gei in Doda district laying down an AK-56 assault rifle along with three magazines and 90 rounds of ammunition. Security forces busted a militant hideout in the house of one Mir of Pangai in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district, they said adding that the recoveries included two Chinese hand grenades, an AK magazine and 22 AK rounds. They also recovered a 303 rifle from a hideout at Riyara in Poonch district, they officials said. They said two 12 bore rifles were hauled from a hideout in Gurmul area in Doda during the period.
