PoK resident seeks State Subject rights

Srinagar: Another resident of Pakistan occupied Kashir (PoK), Syed Alam Shah, presently at village Surahati Tehsil Mendhar District Poonch has filed a writ petition in the State High Court, seeking permanent resident status of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. In the petition, 70 year old Syed Alam Shah submitted that in 1947, he was compelled to leave his native place and now came on visa, which is going to expire on October 30, 2006. According to the petitioner, he approached Ministry of Home Affairs, Union of India for according Indian Citizenship. In the petition the petitioner further submitted that after the expiry of visa, he is apprehending his deportation and prayed before the Court for issuing directions to the respondent State of J&K, Union of India and others not to treat the petitioner as foreigner and restrain them to depart him.
