Islamabad: Barbers in Pakistanís Bajaur tribal area have decided not to shave men following threats from militants who claimed that it was against the tenets of Islam. Local officials said that unidentified men had circulated pamphlets in Bajaur tribal agency two days ago, threatening the local barbers to stop shaving men or face the consequences. The handwritten pamphlet stated that shaving beards was un-Islamic. At an 'emergency' meeting summoned at Inayat Kallay, local barbers decided that they would stop shaving men, the BBC Urdu Service reported. A local barber said, they (the barbers) have decided to display notices outside their shops that customers should not push them for shaves.
