Four LeT Terrorists Killed In J&K Gunbattle

Srinagar: Four separatist Lashker-e-Taiba guerrillas were gunned down by army troops in a jungle in north Kashmir's border district of Kupwara, officials said on Thursday. An Indian Army spokesperson here said troops of the anti-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles on a specific tip-off surrounded the Wanderbala forest, 100 km from here near Rajawar village, and launched a search operation late on Wednesday. 'A group of terrorists, when challenged, opened fire on the surrounding troops and a fire-fight ensued. In the gunbattle, that continued for three hours, all the four LeT militants were killed,' the spokesperson told the agency. 'Four AK-47 rifles, ammunition and other material were recovered. The search operation is still on.' On Wednesday, security forces gunned down two top guerrillas of Harkat- ul Mujahideen, including the outfit chief, in the same district.
