Jammu : J&K Human Rights Watch in a meeting held here today discussed the present political scenario in the state with special reference to the issue of withdrawal of forces. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of B L Kapoor. The members in the meeting observed that the conditions in the state have not at all turned stable and peaceful and thus the demand for the withdrawal of forces at this stage is immature. The forces are for the protection and have been doing their job well as the situation demands. It also observed that the demand put forth by some political parties is in no way genuine and not in the national interest and even not in the interest of the public of Jammu and Kashmir. The people even in the remote and hilly areas continue to demand deployment of forces for their protection from the militants. The members urged upon the Union government to give a deep and serious thought to the issue keeping in view the aspirations of the people in mind.
