Islamabad: Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called upon the Indian authorities to release thousands of detained Kashmiri political workers. Mirwaiz, talking from Srinagar this afternoon, said jail authorities were treating the detainees inhumanely and were not providing them with medical care. He added that the detainees were not allowed to defend themselves in courts either. The detainees include Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Zamruda Habib, Bilal Siddiqi, Shabbir Ahmad Zargar, Abdul Aziz Dar, Qasim Faktoo and M Ahsan Untoo. Farooq said the APHC was convening a meeting in Srinagar on Monday, and they were expecting the detained leaders to participate in the meeting. Farooq urged India to include Kashmiris in Indo-Pak talks to make them meaningful. He said President Pervez Musharraf's four-point agenda on Kashmir, which also included a demilitarisation of Jammu and Kashmir, must be reciprocated by India to pave the way for the final solution of the dispute.
