Two guerrillas killed in Kashmir

Srinagar: Security forces gunned down two separatist guerrillas even as four people including a soldier were wounded in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday.Police said troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) mounted a search operation in Zaniboot village under the Shopian police station in southern Pulwama district, 58 km from here, in the afternoon.'As the troops were busy in searches, the militants hiding in a house opened fire at the surrounding security forces. The fire was returned and in the fierce gunfight that followed, two militants of Hizbul Mujaheedin were gunned down,' a police spokesman said here.He said searches in the village were continuing.An army soldier was seriously wounded in a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast at Pattan on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road in the afternoon.In another incident, militants shot at and seriously wounded two civilians at Kanjikul village in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, 70 km from here. An auto rickshaw driver was shot at and injured by guerrillas at Ban-Mohalla in capital Srinagar.
