Boy Injured As Militants Open Fire On Houses In J-K

Jammu: A boy was injured when militants opened fire on some houses in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today. A group of unidentified militants went to Bakerwal Mohalla in Haroni area of the border district last night and opened indiscriminate fire on some houses, they said. One 12-year-old-boy, identified as Shafakat Hussain, sustained bullet wounds, they said, adding Hussain is the son of Sadiq Mohammad, a serving JAKLI jawan presently on leave. The militants later managed to escape from the area under the cover of darkness, the sources said. The injured boy was rushed to nearby health centre for treatment, the sources said and added that security forces have rushed to the area and launched operation to track down the fleeing militants.
