OGW Arrested, Seven Grenades Recovered In Jammu And Kashmir

Jammu: Security forces have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of a militant outfit and recovered seven hand grenades from Doda and Ramban districts, officials said here today. Acting on a tip-off, security personnel raided the house of one Mohammad Iqbal Shah and recovered eight improvised explosives devices (IED) in Chapra village of Doda district yesterday, they said. In another incident, a joint search party of Rashtriya Rifle troops and intelligence sleuths recovered seven hand grenades wrapped in a polythene and buried underground near national highway in Ramban district, they said. The cache was recovered with the help of a sniffer dog about 100 meters uphill in the area, they said. Meanwhile, police launched a search operation and cordoned off the area after getting the information that four militants were hiding in the house of one Mohammad Yasin in Sungli-Sumbar area of Ramban district, the sources said. There was an exchange of fire between the militants and the police in which one militant was injured, they said, adding all the militants have escaped from the spot.
