Rs. 35 bn compensation money being distributed among Mangla dam affectees: Afzal

Mirpur: Commissioner Mangla Dam Affairs Chaudhry Amir Afzal has said that round about Rs. 35 billion compensation money are being distributed among Mangla dam affectees while more than Rs. 10 billion has been distributed . On the directives of Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, collector Mangla Dam affairs would distribute checks among the affectees, he added . Addressing the ceremony regarding distribution of compensation money here in Rotha Muhammad Ali, he further said that compensation money of land are being distributed while money for houses would be given to the affectees along with allotment of residential plots . Commissioner Mangla Dam Affairs Chaudhry Amir Afzal was of the view that residential plots for affectees are being constructed adding that facilities akin to Federal Capital would be provided in New Mirpur city and Small Towns. Following the directives of Prime Minister AJK, he said, pace of rehabilitation work has been expedited. Organization Mangla Dam affairs are taking concrete steps for the rehabilitation of the affectees. He said designing of Rotha Hariam Bridge, sewerage and water supply schemes worth Rs. 4.5 billion is underway and work on said schemes would soon be started . Implementation committee setup to redress the problem of affectee regarding heirs has approved their demanded, as facts and figure of heirs of affectees are being collected, he maintained. He along with collector Mangla Dam Muhammad Rafiq on the occasion distributed checks among the affectees.
