SPO Injured In Militant Attack In J&K

Jammu: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured in a militant attack in a remote village of Reasi district on Tuesday. A group of three armed militants barged into the house of SPO Mohammad Rafiq in a remote Gandali village of Reasi district on Monday night and called him out. As soon as Rafiq came out of his house, militants fired at him. As a result he sustained several bullet wounds. Later, he was rushed to hospital in Reasi. Rafiq, who was earlier an activist of Hizbul Mujaheedin outfit, had surrendered to authorities in 2002. Meanwhile, police have arrested one militant from Khari Pathri Chilli area of Gandoh tehsil of Doda district, the police said, adding he was arranging food and providing shelter to militants in the area. In another incident, police arrested one Bashir Ahmed Parnoo from Pantha Chowk of Srinagar district last night and brought him to Banihal police station, where some criminal cases were registered against him.
