Militant Arrested, Arms Recovered

Srinagar: In a gruesome incident, unidentified people chopped off the left hand of a villager while security forces busted hideouts and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir overnight. An official spokesman said unidentified masked people chopped off the left hand of one Mohammad Afzal Sheikh with a sharp edged weapon outside his Berigam, Qazigund, house last evening. The injured was admitted to hospital. He said security forces during a search operation near Line of Control (LoC) at Gogaldara in Kupwara recovered four AK rifles, one pistol, 15 magazines, 293 rounds of ammunition, eight IED circuits, 40 detenators, one handgrenades and several other items. Police arrested a militant alongwith one pistol with magazine and one handgrenade at Sopore.
