Srinagar: Security forces today foiled a militant attack on a CRPF camp at Zakura in the outskirts of the town here by eliminating two ultras who had stormed the camp, officials said. 'Both the militants who had entered the camp have been liquidated,' IGP (CRPF) S K Singh said. A group of militants lobbed a hand grenade at the rear side of 142 batallion CRPF camp at Zakura at around 10.20 am followed by indiscriminate firing, he said. 'Seven personnel were injured in the initial attack by the militants which was carried out from the Malabagh side of the camp,' he added. The entire area has been cordoned off and search operations are going on to look for any arms and ammunition, he said. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. This is first attack of its kind in the city for nearly one year and comes at a time when army is celebrating Vijay Diwas to mark the victory over Pakistan-backed militants in the Kargil war of 1999.
