7 Infiltrators, Pak Ultra Held

Srinagar: Seven Pakistani infiltrators were arrested as soon as they sneaked into this side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on a day when Defence Minister A K Antony was in town. Apart rom this, a Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) militant was apprehended from Sopore area where a major tragedy was averted by the security forces by timely detecting and defusing an IED. An official spokesman said security forces guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from PoK in Karnah sector. When challenged, the infiltrators surrendered before the security forces along with one pistol, four magazines, 25 rounds of ammunition, two mobile chargers, one SIM chard and Rs 3,460 in Pak currency. They were identified as Alam Bhat, his wife Mehfooza Bibi, Asher Bhat his son Yasir Bhat, Amina Bhat, Toiba, Suriya Bibi, a resident of PoK. More than 100 militants and their families surrendered before the security forces on the LoC after their return from PoK during the past two years. About 60 others were killed in different encounters with security forces after they sneaked into this side from PoK since January this year. The Defence Minister, who visited some foward posts yesterday, said the infiltration from across the border was going on even though the situation within the Valley had improved. Meanwhile, a major tragedy was averted today when security forces detected and defused an IED in Sopore area of Baramulla district while a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba was apprehended, a police spokesman said here. The IED was detected by the police at Tulibal in Sopore area. It was later destroyed by Bomb Disposal Squad without causing any harm, the spokesman said. Police apprehended a militant of LeT outfit Tariq Ahmad Shala from Sopore town and recovered one hand grenade from his possession, he said.
