Jammu: Militants, on Tuesday, fired from across the Line of Control, injuring a BSF constable who was guarding a forward post in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The officials said that Naresh Kumar was at post Number 25 at Salotri (Krishna Gati) in the district when he was struck by three bullets in the arm and chest and rushed to hospital where in a critical condition. 'It was cross-border firing by militants and not by Pakistani troops. There was no violation of the Indo-Pak border truce,' a spokesman of the Army's 16 Corps said. The border ceasefire by Indian and Pakistani troops came into being on 26 November, 2003. The security forces had earlier not ruled out the possibility of Pakistani troops having fired the shots on the Indian post. The BSF guards some areas under the Army's operational command along the LoC in Poonch district.
