Arms Recovered In Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu: Security forces have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including nine AK rifles, during search operations in Banihal and Surankote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Acting on a tip- off, army troops and State police launched a joint search operation and busted a natural cave- type hideout at Sherigala in Poonch district on Saturday morning, a defence spokesperson said. The recoveries from the hideout included eight AK rifles, 18 magazines and 247 rounds, two Chinese pistols with five magazines and 22 rounds, and one bayonet. In another search operation, troops recovered one AK rifle with its magazine and 30 rounds from inside a tree trunk in general area of Kachhimarg, 12 km south-west of Banihal, in Ramban district on Saturday evening, the spokesperson said.
