Kashmiris stage sit-in in front of Indian High Commission

Islamabad: In Rawalpindi the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) held a protest demonstration in front of the United Nations Military Observers Office to mark the India's Independence Day as Black Day and protest against India's military occupation of Kashmir. The demonstrators held a sit-in before the office, holding placards and banners in their hands and raising slogans in favour of freedom and right of self-determination as well as against Indian occupation. Addressing the demonstrators on the occasion Kashmiri leaders urged upon the world community to impress upon India to give Kashmiris' their birth right to self-determination and stop mass killings of innocent Kashmiris. They strongly condemned state terrorism and demanded unconditional military pull-out from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Amidst pro-freedom slogans and show of black flags against Indian Occupation, the leaders presented a memorandum to the office bearers, demanding UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to implement UN resolutions for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir. The memorandum also demanded the Ban Ki Moon to impress upon India to revoke all draconian laws, respect human rights and release political detainees, to set the stage ready for a peaceful and durable solution of Kashmir issue.
