Three Killed In Militancy Related Incidents In J&K

Jammu: Three persons, including a constable, were killed in separate militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since last night, an official spokesman said here today. Militants barged into the house of one Mohammad Rashid at Hubbi in Kandi sector of Rajouri district and kidnapped him alongwith his brother and cousin last night, the spokesman said. He said while Rashid was shot dead, the other abductees managed to escape from the clutches of the militants. Rashid's brother, Rehman, is working in the territoral army in Rajouri district. Police today recovered a headless body of 70-year-old Mohammad Afsar from Kandi area of the district, the spokesman said. Afsar was kidnapped by militants on August 16. A constable of special striking reserves (SSR) of Jammu and Kashmir police died today after battling serious injuries sustained during an encounter with militants in Rajouri district last week, the spokesman said. Constable Bilal Ahmad of SSR succumbed to injuries at government medical college hospital here after battling for life since August 12, when he was injured, the spokesman said. One constable was killed and another sustained serious injuries when their party was ambushed by heavily armed militants at village Hartmula in Gursai area of Rajouri district.
