7 Injured In Car Blast At Hyderpora

Srinagar: Seven persons, including a BSF recruit, today sustained injuries when militants caused a car bomb explosion near Al-Ameen Hospital at Hyderpora on Srinagar-Airport Road. Earlier today, Police recovered an IED from Nadar Gund on the same motorway.nformed sources told EXCELSIOR that suspected militants targeted a BSF vehicle, carrying trainee recruits to RTC Humhama, in front of Al-Ameen Hospital, close to Hyderpora Junction, on Srinagar-Airport Road at 1835 hours this evening. An IED, planted in a parked Maruti-800, was, according to officials, activated with a remote control device as soon as the BSF vehicle began crossing the hospital. It was hit in the medium intensity blast which failed to cause much damage. Two Maruti cars, following the BSF vehicles, also suffered minor damage. Sources said that one of the targeted vehicles caught fire which was quickly extinguished. SSP Budgam, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, said that in all six civilians and a BSF trainee, namely Ghulam Mohiuddin of Bandipore, were injured in the car blast. He said that Police had collected necessary samples of the devastated car and other vehicles hit in the blast and were trying to ascertain identity of the owner of the car used in the subversive activity. He said that one person was referred to Bone & Joint Hospital Barzullah while all others were treated at Al-Ameen Hospital. Most of them, he said, had been discharged by late tonight. With today's blast in Hyderpora outskirts of Srinagar, militants have struck in the capital city after a long time. Earlier in the forenoon today, Budgam Police received information that militants had planted an IED in a polythene bag on Nadar Gund take off point, close to Pirbagh culvert, on Srinagar-Airport Road. Police diverted traffic and seized the IED. Sources said that it was defused by a bomb disposal squad. Meanwhile, in a joint operation, based on the information of Army sources, troops of 15 Rashtriya Rifles and 162 Infantry Battalion TA (H&H) launched a search operation in general area of Bonzuri in Baramulla district. Troops recovered warlike stores. Recovery includes 907 rounds of AK ammunition, 11 AK magazines, two 12 bore gun, 15 UBGL shells, two 60 MM mortar bomb, two RCEID, one Anti personnel mine, 4 Chinese hand grenades, one UMG drum, one RS Kenwood, one compass, one camera, one radio, one binocular with cover, one pouch, one AK body cover, one RS socket, one RPG booster, one RPG shell, one battery charger, two detonators and one ice axe. In another operation based on the source information, troops of 2 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in general area of Chichlur in Baramulla district. Troops recovered warlike stores wrapped in polythene in underground . Recovery includes 5 UBGL grenades, 6 Chinese hand grenades, 1 RC IED CCT, 4 Electric detonators and two radio sets.
