New Delhi: The Indian Army will go ahead with a joint anti-terror exercise with UK in Ladakh despite protests from Pakistan that the 25-day high altitude war game will not be a 'legitimate activity' because of the 'disputed status' of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan sent demarches to both India and Britain on the issues and summoned the country's envoys to its foreign office on Tuesday to lodge a formal objection to the exercise. 'This is not a legitimate activity because Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory and more than anybody else the British should be aware of it,' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said. While the Defence Ministry did not react to the protest, officials confirmed that the exercise would be held as per schedule. 'We are carrying out an activity on Indian soil and don't need anyone's permission for it,' an officer said.
