Jammu: In view of the ensuing winter Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey visited Marwah today to take stock of availability of essential supplies to this hilly and totally cut off area with no road connectivity with rest of the country. The Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Shahid Anayatullah and DIG Doda- Ramban-Kishtwar Range Farooq Khan. At Marwah, Pandey interacted with Tehsil Level Officers, local public representatives and enquired about the basic amenities such as availability of foodgrains in the stores and health care facilities available in the area. Reviewing the progress of various ongoing developmental works particularly under NREGA, he instructed all the executing agencies for early completion of works as a very limited season was left for carrying the work in this hilly area. Divisional Commissioner upon listening to the demands put forth by local representatives assured that internet facility would be provided in both the CIC Centres at Marwah and Warwan before onset of winter season. Taking serious note of complaints received about distribution of Solar lights and foodgrains in the area, he ordered the District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar to enquire into the issue and submit a detailed report within fifteen days. Addressing the people, Mr. Pandey observed that there is scope for the promotion of tourism and agriculture allied activities like vegetables production, sheep rearing, dairy farming, fish farming, floriculture, horticulture etc provided a carefully crafted strategy is formulated for the area. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu also issued strict instructions to Tehsil officers to remain available at Marwah Tehsil headquarters round the clock to redress the grievances of people of this hilly and far-off area of Jammu Division.
