2 Militants Held, Arms Seized

Srinagar: Troops arrested two militants and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition in the Kashmir Valley. A defence spokesman said that troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 2 Para conducted a joint search operation in Nathipura General area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district today. During the operation, troops arrested a militant, identified as Fiyaz Ahmed Lone, and seized one Chinese hand grenade and a Nokia mobile phone from his possession, the spokesman added. In a similar operation at Chalpura village in Kupwara district, troops of 21 RR apprehended an over ground worker, Javed Ahmed Khan. Khan was involved in aiding, abetting, providing food and shelter to militants of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba, he said. In another operation, troops of 34 RR seized a large quantity of war- like stores from Nandonpura in Badgam district today. The seizure included one SLR 7.62 mm, one magazine of SLR 7.62mm, three AK magazines, 200 rounds of AK ammunition, one 9mm ammunition, 127 rounds of Pika ammunition, one rucksack, one spanner and four deto improvised, the spokesman said.
