Jammu: Nearly 4,000 people would be given land ownership rights under a scheme to be implemented here from Wednesday , an official said here on Tuesday. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will confer ownership rights to nearly 4,000 people under Roshni scheme, he said. 'A special function is being held at Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium (MAM) here where beneficiaries from different parts of the state will assemble to get the ownership rights,' said Hirdesh Kumar Singh, District Development Commissioner (DDC). Under the scheme, the ownership rights would also be given to the occupants who have been tilling the land for long. The scheme is being seen as a step by which government plans to bring those, who had been owning the land illegally till now, under its revenue regime.
