PARC to help develop NAs agriculture sector

Islamabad: Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) will provide all possible assistance for the development and research of agriculture sector in Northern Areas, stated the PARC Chairman while briefing the four member delegation. The delegation was headed by Deputy Speaker Syed Asad Zaidi, which called on him here at the PARC headquarters. The legislators said that PARC was playing tremendous role for the development of agriculture sector in Northern Areas, however he stressed the need for bridging the gaps between researchers and growers. Dr Tusneem said that PARC will continue its research efforts in the Northern Areas and will support the farmers for growing off- season vegetables. He said that technology transfer institutes working in Northern Areas were already transferring technologies and expertise to farmers, however, he added that any recommendations by legislators of Assembly will be given priority. The delegation assured the PARC Chairman of their efforts to speed up the development of the agricultural sector in Northern Areas to benefit farmers and other stakeholders.
