PDP Worker Shot Dead In Baramulla District

Srinagar: A People's Democratic Party (PDP) worker was shot dead by militants in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here on Wednesday. Ghulam Mohammad Wani, also a contractor by profession, was gunned down by militants on Tuesday when he was on his way home to Chandbug village from Kunzer town, they said. Wani, whose wife is a member of the local municipal council, was an active worker of the PDP. Last week, a corporator of the opposition National Conference was shot dead in Khanyar locality of the city. With Assembly elections due in the State, security agencies apprehend that militants would target political workers.
