Militants Kill Village Headman In Jammu And Kashmir

Srinagar: In a barbaric act, militants killed a village headman by slitting his throat in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today. Forty-year-old Abdul Majid Piswal was brutally killed by militants who dragged him out from his house at Shrat-Kuligam village last night, a police spokesman said. He said his body was found in the nearby forest and later handed over to his next of kin. Police have registered a case and have launched a hunt to nab the militants behind the shocking incident, the spokesman said. Meanwhile, police apprehended an overground worker of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit, Mohammad Ishaq Mir from Pulwama this morning. Hailing from Urcharsoo village of Pulwama, Mir was nabbed at a police checkpost, the spokesman said, adding a hand grenade was recovered from his possession.
