Cable Operators Call Off Strike

Srinagar: The cable operators of Valley have decided to call off their strike with immediate effect after their protest invited much annoyance from the subscribers who demanded immediate restoration of the cable service. President Cable operators, Irfan told Etalaat, “The two day strike was a mark of protest against the banning of four Pakistani channels by the authorities. However the general public is suffering inconvenience and it was on their demand that we have decided to resume our operations.” He said that after receiving innumerous calls from the subscribers of the Valley to resume the operations the operators decided to end the protests “for the people of the valley do not have any other source of entertainment than the cable network.” A ban has been imposed on airing of four Pakistani television channels in Srinagar since Wednesday after the district magistrate Srinagar, Sheikh Ajaz Iqbal, asked the cable operators to immediately stop airing PTV, Geo, Aaj and Ary channels.
