New Delhi: Even as Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a slight decline in incidents of terrorist violence as well as infiltration from across the border in the past one year, the threat continues to loom large with the presence of as many as 1,200 terrorists including foreign militants in the state. The estimated figure of terrorists in the state was disclosed by the government in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Minister of state for home affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal, in a written reply to a question, said, 'Available reports indicate that there are an estimated 1,200 terrorists, including foreign terrorists, active in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.' He said the nationality of foreign militants was confirmed by the possession of identity cards, marking of shoes, clothes, cigarettes and other items on killed militants.
