Prof Punjabi proposes Shamim Memorial lecture

: 'Kashmir University offers itself to digitalize all back volumes of 'Aaeena' to preserve them for posterity' announced Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Riyaz Punjabi at a function organized to commemorate doyen of urdujournalism , late Shamim Ahmed Shamim on his 28th death anniversary organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art culture and Languages here today. The offer made by VC KU that Iqbal LibraryKashmir University will digitalize all back volumes of Aaeena edited by its founder editor Shamim Ahmad Shamim was received with lot of applause from audience. Vice chancellor Kashmir UniversityProf Riyaz Punjabi presided over the function which was attended by a galaxy of scholars and writers and members of media fraternity. In his presidential remarks, Prof Punjabi described Shamim as a multifaceted person who worked tirelessly to provide new dimensions to journalism in Kashmir.' Prof Punjabi proposed a Shamim memorial lecture every year to pay tribute to doyen of Urdu journalism in Kashmir.' Dr Rafiq Masoodi Director Door Darshan Srinagar and Zafar Iqbal Minhas in their speeches complimented VC KU for what they termed as ' change process initiated by new VC at the campus '. Noted educationist Dr Aga Ashraf Ali was also present on the occasion.
