Pak PM assures concrete steps for development of Northern Areas

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said the government recognised the importance of Northern Areas (NAs) and would take concrete steps for the uplift and progress of people of this region. Gilani said this while talking to Pir Syed Karam Ali Shah, former chief executive NAs, who called on him at Prime Ministerís House. Shah apprised the prime minister of various matters relating to the region. Gilani assured him that all issues relating to NAs would be resolved on priority and the government would extend its full support in this regard. Later, Senator Israrullah Zehri, President BNP Awami and Chief of Jhalawan, also called on the Prime Minister and thanked him for taking personal interest in the development of Balochistan by announcing a special grant of Rs 3 billion to help the province to finalise its budget.
