NC Kashmiris’ Primary Enemy: Geelani

10 July 2008

Srinagar: Senior pro-freedom leader and Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed the National Conference as the primary enemy of Kashmiris and the Peoples Democratic Party another name of Congress. “We should not only keep ourselves confined to boycott of coming elections but we should also snap all ties with the pro-India political parties,” said Geelani while addressing a function on the elocution competition on Seerat organized by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu Kashmir at Pulwama. Geelani said the recent successful mass agitation against transfer of forestland should serve as an eye opener for India, suggesting that it should review its rigid stand on Kashmir issue. “It has provided a vivid opportunity to India to change its stance, acknowledge the state’s disputed status and take steps for resolving the Kashmir issue,” he said, adding “Every individual of this land has now identified himself with our stand and ideology. It makes no difference if one Geelani dies. For, there are Geelanis everywhere now.” Geelani called for complete boycott of coming assembly elections in the state.
