Jammu: Taking strong exception to the Jammu and Kashmir government's dilatory tactics in implementing the August 31 peace deal after the 63-day agitation on the Amarnath land issue, the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) on Friday warned that it would revive its stir if the assurances given are not fulfiled immediately. SASS convener Leela Karan Sharma told reporters in Jammu, ‘‘Despite assurances given by the governor’s panel, which brokered the deal, regarding withdrawal of all cases including the Public Safety Act against SASS activists, nothing has been done till date.” The samiti was also promised that these cases would be reviewed by a committee headed by the principal secretary (home). ‘‘Furthermore, the commitment to deal with cases of atrocities committed by the police on peaceful agitators has fallen flat as the administration is yet to take any action against SSP Parbhat Singh and DSP M L Kaith.” He also stated Clause 4 of the Peace Deal Agreement, ‘‘All cases of non-serious nature will be withdrawn while the rest will be reviewed by a committee headed by Anil Goswami, principal secretary (home) within 60 days. Till the completion of this process, no action will be taken in such cases.”
