Jawan, Terrorist Killed In Gunbattle Along LoC

Jammu: An Army jawan and a militant were killed in a fierce gunbattle between security forces and the terrorists along the LoC in Jammu & Kashmirís Poonch district on SundaySources said the encounter ensued after a group of terrorists crossed the LoC from Kabristan post near Kalash Kamya in Poonch under the alleged cover firing from the Pakistani troops. 'Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing after the infiltration, which continued intermittently till late in the evening,' a source said. The source said the encounter is taking place in a dense forest. 'The operation is difficult since we canít cross to that side as itís a heavily mined area,' he said. An Army officer said the slain terrorist's body is lying near zero line. 'Sepoy C Chaya of 1-Assam Regiment was also killed in the operation,' he said. The gunbattle was on till the last reports came in. Earlier, on Thursday Pakistani troops opened fire on the Indian forward post Copra in Poonchís Sabzian sub-sector. Pakistan troops have so far breached the five-year-old ceasefire between the two countries 32 times since January.
