Three Injured In Election Rally Grenade Attack In J-K

Srinagar: Three persons were injured on Tuesday as militants hurled a grenade at a road show organised by National Conference candidate in Sopore segment of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. Militants hurled a grenade at the road show of Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie at Braat-Kalaan in Sopore area at around 1.15 pm, the sources said, adding that the candidate escaped unhurt in the attack. Three persons were injured in the blast, the sources said, adding that the conditions of two of them are critical. Ganaie cancelled his further electioneering for the day, the sources said. This is the first grenade attack on an election rally in Jammu and Kashmir since the poll process began with Election Commission issuing notification on October 19. Sopore and 17 other assembly segments are scheduled to go to polls in the fourth phase of elections on December seven. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
