Abdullah Couldn't Develop His Own Constituency : Azad
12 December 2008
: Former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today ridiculed his political opponent and National Conference (NC) Patron Farooq Abdullah, saying he did nothing to develop even his own constituency while in power, let alone doing something for the state as a whole. 'Not to speak of the state, Abdullah could not even develop his own constituency of Ganderbal in Kashmir when NC was in power', Azad said addressing election meetings in his own constituency Baderwah in Doda district. Claiming that it was his government that ushered in all the development in Ganderbal, Azad said it was during his regime that Abdullah's constituency Ganderbal got the status of a district besides a degree college. Asking people not to be taken in by the NC's promises about changing their lives, he said if the party had paid attention to people's sufferings while in office there would not have been lack of basic amenities in the state.
