Cross-LoC trade despite tensions

Islamabad: Traders from Poonch in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) and Hajeera in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) continued to exchange goods under barter system despite tension between Pakistan and India following the Mumbai attacks. A lorry carrying vegetables and shawls left the Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Poonch for Hajeera across the Line of Control (LoC) the other day, KMS reported. It said the consignment included 7,500kg potatoes, 5,000kg tomatoes and 77 Pashmina shawls.
