MQM nominee elected AJK deputy speaker

Muzaffarabad: Muhammad Saleem Butt, a legislator of the MQM in the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was elected as the deputy speaker on Monday. The assembly session for the election of deputy speaker was held under the presidentship of Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir. Muhammad Saleem But bagged 29 votes while the opposition candidate Mehr-un-Nisa obtained 15 votes in secret balloting. The speaker administered the oath to Muhammad Saleem Butt and congratulated him on wining the post. Besides other members of the assembly, opposition candidate Mehr-un-Nisa also felicitated the deputy speaker and assured her full support to Saleem Butt. The newly-elected deputy speaker also addressed the legislators and said he would fulfil his responsibilities honestly. Later, the speaker prorogued the session.
