Stay order against AJKCCI elections

Mirpur: The District Judge of Mirpur here on Wednesday heard the case of stay order, served by the court against the annual elections2009 of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and fixed the next date of hearing on February 14, 2009. The elections were scheduled to be held for all the three posts of president, senior vice president and vice president on February 10 (Tuesday) for next one-year constitutional term. An application was filed by Raja Khalid Mahmood, Senior Vice President of the AJKCCI and Khalid Sharif, Member Executive Committee of the AJKCCI, who is also the candidate for the slot of the president-ship of the AJKCCI, challenging the validity of the membership of three of the executive committee members of the AJKCCI including Raja Muhammad Jamil, Zubair Abbasi and Chaudhry Javed Iqbal. It had been contended by the applicants that the elections to the three offices the AJKCCI will be held unlawfully.
