Srinagar: A top Army officer has said that the intelligence network across the LoC helped it intercept and eliminate 17 terrorists who had made incursions into the Kashmir Valley early last week. The terrorists had created safe havens inside the Hafrada forest in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. 15-Corps Brigadier General Staff Brigadier Gurmit Singh said Army's intelligence network, particularly across the LoC, had helped. The interception of Pakistani intruders in the forested area had triggered the five-day gunbattle at separate places. 'Intelligence from across the border proved crucial in tracking down the infiltrators,' the officer said.
