Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani has said armed struggle is the backbone of resistance movement, and it is the result of sacrifices that Kashmir issue is internationally known. “Armed struggle is the backbone of our struggle. Our issue is internationally acclaimed because of our sacrifices. Such people are our heroes and are way ahead than those involved in political struggle for the cause,” Geelani said while addressing a gathering at Dadsara Tral on Sunday, where two militants Azad Ahmed Bhat and Safeer ul Islam were killed in an encounter. “Most of our guest militants are children of those Kashmiris who have migrated to Pakistan,” he added. Calling on the international community to be clear about the difference between ‘terrorist activity’ and ‘freedom fight’, Geelani said, “Non-state actors anywhere and every where cannot be terrorists.” “We are gaining international support, and India cannot stay here for long. Nation has to be united and follow the leadership and believe in success and we will be successful as a nation,” he said. Lashing out on pro-India political parties, Geelani said, “Pro India parties are the biggest hurdle in our freedom. We have to reject these parties.” Jama’at Islami leader Advocate Sheikh Ali Muhammad also addressed the congregation. Geelani later went to Khaigam where he expressed solidarity with the family members of Ghulam Mohi-ud din who was killed by CRPF earlier this month.
