Srinagar: After the two day’s executive council meeting proved inconclusive, the Hurriyat (M) will be holding a joint sitting of its executive and general council on Wednesday to formulate a strategy on parliamentary elections. Hurriyat insiders told Rising Kashmir that the deliberations regarding the election boycott topped the agenda of the Hurriyat (M) executive meeting for the second day in succession. “The leadership is trying to evolve a ‘midway solution’ to all the issues,” they said. A senior Hurriyat leader, pleading anonymity said, “We are trying to arrive at a consensus and reach a mid way solution to accommodate opinion of all the leaders”. Hurriyat (M) media secretary Salim Geelani admitted that the joint meeting of executive and general of the conglomerate has been convened on Wednesday. “It may also prolong,” he said. Geelani, however, said that the final decision will be reached after the conclusion of the meeting. The executive council meeting was chaired by acting chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari. Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Fazal Haq Qureshi, Aga Syed Hassan, Maulana Abdullah Tari and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza attended the meeting. The meeting could not be chaired by Mirwaiz Muhammad Umer Farooq, who is in New Delhi for orthopaedic treatment and is expected to arrive in the Valley in the coming week.
