4 May 2009
: Zulfiqar Abbasi, President of Federation of Jammu & Kashmir Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FJKCCI), Monday called for the early emergence of a liberal regime to ensure the free movement of the traders of Jammu & Kashmir state from both sides of the Line of Control to make the trans-LoC trade a complete success in line with the aspirations of the true business fraternity of the either side of the LoC instead of placing undue hurdles to sabotage the trade. He demanded that instead of imposing restrictions of stipulated number of the loaded trucks, the trans-LoC trade be enlarged to all days of week instead of confining it only to two days in a week.President of the FJKCCI, the apex body of the business community of both sides of the J & K state (AJK and Indian occupied Kashmir), said that free movement of the members of the business community from both sides of LoC was primarily imperative for the promotion of trade between both parts of the state. He reiterated his demand for the introduction of liberal policy about swift issuance of the travel documents for the traders seeking entry at either side of the LoC on the basis of at least a multiple entry.Zulifqar Abbasi suggested to the governments of both Pakistan and India as well as the AJK and occupied Kashmir governments to issue special travel passes to the traders for the period of at least a couple of years on the recommendations of the Federation of Jammu & Kashmir Chambers of Commerce & Industry to facilitate them with a quick access as and when required. He also called for permission to the traders for traveling between both sides of the LoC through their own vehicles. This, he added, is the need of hour for the traders for mutual physical interaction, business deals and direct access to the markets to explore the need of the products for trading.
