Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday ordered a magisterial probe into a clash between law enforcing agencies and Gujjars at Karnaila chak in Jammu region. 'On the instructions of chief minister Omar Abdullah, inquiry has been ordered into the Karnaila chak incident,' an official spokesman said. The clashes, which also led to the burning of Gujjar huts, allegedly by the police, broke out when law enforcers and Social Forestry personnel went to the area to clear about 10 hectares of government land reportedly encroached upon by the community, and left over two dozen people injured. The spokesman said Jammu Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal has been made the inquiry officer and asked to submit his report within a week.
