Srinagar : Organisation of Islami Conference (OIC) has invited chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to attend the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the grouping of Muslim countries. 'OIC general secretary Ekmeluddin Ihsanoglu has invited Mirwaiz to take part in the extraordinary meeting of Foreign Ministers to be held in Syrian capital of Damascus from May 23 to May 25,' a spokesman of the Hurriyat said in a statement here. The spokesman said Mirwaiz will put forth the Hurriyat perspective for resolution of Kashmir issue before the member countries. He claimed that the session will have a special focus on resolution of Kashmir issue and will attempt to form a composite strategy that can lead to permanent resolution of the problem as per the wishes and aspirations of the people. OIC invites Mirwaiz, as the chairman of Hurriyat Conference, to its Foreign Ministers' meeting every year. Although the Hurriyat Chairman has attended the meetings several times in the past, it is to be seen whether the present government will allow him to travel to Syria as Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest for several days after his amalgam called for a boycott of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
