Nawaz Urges US To Fulfil Promises Of Resolving Kashmir Issue

Lahore: PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has urged US to stop drone attacks as these are counter-productive in fight against terrorism. Talking to a five member delegation of US senators who met him at his Raiwind residence on Monday, he said, “Drone attacks are violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and are creating more militants and extremists.” Reminding the senators of promises of President Clinton and Obama to solve the festering issue of Kashmir between India and Pakistan, he said, “US should fulfill its promises of solving the Kashmir issue which would help in bringing an end to sufferings of the people and extreimsim in the region.” He informed the delegatiuon about the sufferings and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people for their right of self-determiantion. While talking about Pak-India relations, former Prime Minsiter said, “We do not want to be in arms race and even nuclear detonations were conducted by Pakistan in 1998 as we were left with no option after explosions by India.” Chief Minsiter Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Senator Ishaq Dar were also present on the occasion. The US senators said that Pakistan have rich cultural heritage and people of Pakistan are hardworking. They appreciated the contribution of expatriate Pakistanis to the US economy. They said Paksitan was created by a constitutionalist and lawyer Muhammad Ali Jinnah who was always for justice and supermacy of law. The delegation appreciated PML-N efforts for restoration of judiciary in the country. The delegation comprised Senator Thomas Carper, Senator Mark Udall, Senator Mark Begich, Senator K Hagan and Senator janne Shaheen.
