Srinagar: Three suspected Muslim militant infiltrators and two Indian army soldiers, including an officer, have been killed in a fierce gun battle in revolt-hit Kashmir, officials said Monday. Army spokesman J.S. Brar told AFP that the clash broke-out late Sunday in northern Kupwara disrict, near the Line of Control dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan. 'Three terrorists were killed and two of our men, including an officer achieved martyrdom, during a gun battle,' he said, adding the three had infiltrated Indian Kashmir from the Pakistani part of the divided state. Pakistan denies Indian charges that it arms and funds militants waging a deadly insurgency against Indian rule in Kashmir. A nearly 20-year revolt has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
