China to help reconstruct three AJK cities

Islamabad: The government on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding with China for rebuilding and rehabilitating three major cities of Azad Kashmir destroyed in the 2005 earthquake.A statement issued by the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Agency said that an umbrella contract for the project had already been signed by Erra with two Chinese construction companies in February this year. China offered a $300 million credit to help the government to complete development work in Muzzafarrabad, Bagh and Rawalakot. Pakistan contributed $53 million for various projects under the AJK Urban Development Programme.
