Police Cracks Down On Kashmir ‘stone-pelters’

Srinagar: Police Monday launched crackdown on ‘stone-pelters’ by arresting at least a dozen youth in two days. According to the local news gathering agency KNS police arrested dozen of youth alleged to be involved in stone pelting. “Police is also deployed in civvies to identify the stone-pelters and later zero in on them during night raids.” According to KNS police has constituted special teams who gather information regarding stone-pelters and later inform the local police station about the involved youth. Police is conducting raids in Maharaj Gunj, Saraf Kadal, Bohri Kadal, Nawab Bazar, Wazapora, Zainapora and other areas. KNS quoting locals said that people are worried about the arrests as the police is not providing the information regarding the whereabouts of the arrested youth. Meanwhile, police has also tightened grip on youth of Maisuma and Batamaloo. The raids according to KNS are being conducted in these areas as well.
