Srinagar: United Jehad Council, an amalgam of various militant outfits based in Pakistan administered Kashmir Wednesday criticized the detention of senior separatist leader, Syed Ali Geelani under Public Safety Act and termed it as a political ‘assassination’. According to a local news gathering agency KNS, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain said detaining leadership of Hurriyat (G) means to deny Kashmiris of the real representative. He said, “Ruling National Conference (NC) is living in a fool’s paradise if it believes that they could break the will of Geelani.” Hussain criticized government for slapping PSA on Geelani for the fourth time. He said, “It happened despite ill health, and State court ordering releasing of the aged leader.” The spokesman said Geelani’s re-arrest is not only contempt of court but is also against humanity. He said: “Detention of leaders like Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Masrat Alam, Asiya Andrabi in outside Kashmir jail means they are being pushed towards slow death. He said during detention the leaders are being harassed and deliberately their health is allowed to worsen by not providing them treatment.” “This is how India is doing political murder,” Hussain said.
